The national airline, Maldivian, has made the decision to resume flights to Sri Lanka. The airline had suspended its operations to Sri Lanka in 2021 due to the deteriorating situation in the country.
The Managing Director of Maldivian, Ibrahim Iyas, announced that flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka, will resume from April 25, 2024. He expressed optimism that these flights will benefit the people of both countries and provide convenience for those traveling between Sri Lanka and the Maldives for various purposes.
Furthermore, Maldivian has opened the opportunity for passengers to book tickets for these flights starting from February 29. The airline plans to operate two flights per week between Sri Lanka and the Maldives, with the flights operating from Velana International Airport to Bandaranaike International Airport.
In addition to the newly resumed flights to Sri Lanka, Maldivian currently operates international flights to Cochin, Bangalore, Trivandrum in India, and Dhaka in Bangladesh.
