The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has revealed a significant increase in international flights scheduled to the Maldives in January of this year.
The latest statistics released by the MMA show that both tourist arrivals and the number of airlines serving the Maldives have witnessed an upward trend. In January, the total number of international flights arriving in the Maldives reached 1,630, out of which 1,418 were scheduled flights. In addition, there were 212 general flights, including charter flights by airlines and private jets. Scheduled international airline movements totaled 1,398, with 275 general flight movements in January 2023.
The Ministry of Tourism has stated that January this year saw 192,385 tourists visiting the Maldives, marking an 11.5% increase compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the operational bed capacity for tourists in January was recorded at 61,732, with resorts achieving an occupancy rate of 71.7%.
