President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has noted the importance of aligning developmental initiatives on the islands with the aspirations of the people. He made these remarks during a meeting with the Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) of Vaadhoo, Raa Atoll.
Council members expressed their development priorities during the meeting, highlighting the critical importance of shore protection, relocating the waste management centre, and harbour development. Additionally, discussions focused on finding solutions for the urgent allocation of housing plots. Council members also raised concerns about the halt of the water and sanitation network establishment project and challenges arising from space limitations at the council Secretariat.
