"Relief for citizens from new air ambulance service evident"

Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar has highlighted the relief felt by citizens due to the recent introduction of the air ambulance service. He made the remarks while speaking at a gathering with the residents of Meedhoo, during the President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu ’s current visit to Raa and Baa Atolls.

Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzu underscored the absence of a proper system for transporting critically ill patients from the atolls, leading to prolonged suffering and anguish for the public. He reflected on numerous tragic incidents exacerbating these challenges, highlighting the air ambulance service as a pivotal solution, alleviating the community's suffering.

Additionally, Minister Shareef elaborated on the government's commitment to strengthening the decentralisation framework and empowering local councils. He spotlighted President Dr. Muizzu's initiative to modernise 50 local council buildings, addressing the long-standing neglect in repairing and renovating these essential facilities.

Furthermore, Minister Shareef outlined the government's measures to bolster policies and priorities, reinforcing the decentralisation system across the Maldives. He also disclosed President Dr. Muizzu's decision to allocate uninhabited islands and lagoons to councils for revenue generation, marking a significant step towards sustainable local development.
