President stresses citizen cooperation in expediting development

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the pivotal role of citizen cooperation in expediting developmental initiatives. He made the remarks while speaking at a gathering with the residents of Hithaadhoo, Baa Atoll.

Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzu underscored the primary concern raised by the Hithaadhoo Island Council regarding the incomplete harbour development, expressing understanding for the council's frustration over the prolonged timeline of the project. He also noted that the island still lacks a modern harbour facility despite two years of ongoing efforts.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu has committed to prioritise the completion of the harbour. He also pledged to implement necessary modifications based on community feedback to ensure seamless vessel access to the harbour.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu addressed the pressing issue of land scarcity in Hithaadhoo. As such, he announced plans for land reclamation to address housing shortages. He assured swift action and outlined the commencement of this priority project within the year. He also revealed plans for the development of sports facilities including a handball court, volleyball court, and football field in the island. Encouraging full community cooperation, he stressed that the success of these endeavors hinges on collective effort, asserting that visible progress will be evident with citizen participation.
