President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has commenced a three-day tour to islands across three atolls. The itinerary includes visits to two islands in Dhaalu Atoll, four islands in Meemu Atoll, and two islands in Vaavu Atoll.
The primary objectives of the President's visit are to engage with councils and Women's Development Committees (WDC) and gain firsthand insights into the local situations and concerns of the residents. The visits aim to address issues crucial for development and seek the guidance of the councils.
During the tour, the President will meet with the councils of all inhabited islands, emphasising a direct and consultative approach. The 3-day journey encompasses visits to a total of 8 islands in 3 atolls. Accompanying the President is a senior government delegation, including ministers.
This visit is part of a broader initiative, with the President having already visited over 50 islands in 11 atolls and engaged with 121 councils, including local councils, provincial councils, and city councils.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's goal is to cover all the islands in the country within the year, aiming for at least two visits to each island during his term.
