The President has successfully concluded his visit to 10 islands spanning four atolls. The itinerary covered two islands in Dhaalu Atoll, four islands in Meemu Atoll, two islands in Vaavu Atoll and two islands in Kaafu Atoll.
The primary objectives of the President's visit were to engage with councils and Women's Development Committees (WDC), gaining firsthand insights into local situations and concerns. These visits aimed to address crucial development issues and seek guidance from the councils.
Throughout the visit, the President briefed residents on the island councils' development plans and significant changes the government intends to bring to laws and policies.
The tour emphasised a direct and consultative approach, with the President meeting the councils of all inhabited islands. The President was accompanied by a senior government delegation, including ministers.
This visit marks over 60 islands visited in 15 atolls, with interactions with more than 140 councils, including local councils, atoll councils, and city councils.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's ambitious goal is to cover all islands in the country within the year, aiming for at least two visits to each island during his term.
