Maldives Port Limited (MPL) has announced the commencement of Sea to Air Cargo Transshipment services, aimed at providing accessible freight transport via land, sea, and air. This hybrid model is designed to meet the needs of businesses operating in the region and streamline transportation processes in a sustainable manner.
Alongside the launch of this service, MPL has released tariff rates, with the price of a 20ft container set at USD 654.13 and a 40ft container valued at USD 812.71.
Speaking at a press conference, MPL's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim stated that there is significant demand to expedite the export of goods initially imported to Maldives by sea, using airlift for transportation. He emphasized that MPL is actively pursuing this project to generate additional revenue, highlighting ongoing discussions with Turkish Airlines regarding the initiative.
