President declares April 21, 22 as public holidays for election

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has declared April 21, 22 public holidays for two days, considering the voting process for the upcoming parliamentary election.

President Dr. Muizzu declared the two days public holidays, as April 21, is the polling day for the parliamentary election. The Election Commission of the Maldives (ECM) requested that the polling day be declared a public holiday due to the significant involvement of government employees and the general public in various election-related activities.

The ECM also requested that April 22 be designated as a public holiday due to numerous significant tasks such as vote counting, result announcements, and other election-related activities.
