President and Commander-in-Chief Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to address the military housing crisis within his five-year presidential term. He made this commitment while addressing military personnel at Kalhuthukkalaa Koshi.
Emphasising the crucial role of the military in safeguarding the freedom and sovereignty of the Maldives, President Muizzu highlighted the importance of training provided to military personnel. He underscored that all initiatives should be rooted in the core principles of Islam, emphasising its role in preserving Islamic values and encouraging pride in the faith.
President Muizzu further stressed that the Islamic faith has been the primary source behind every national achievement, with national heroes upholding Islamic values while serving the nation.
Additionally, President Muizzu affirmed that in the face of the negative externalities of rapid globalization, intellectual warfare has become prominent. He noted the need for military personnel to possess competency and expertise to combat these challenges effectively using modern technological resources, warning that failure to do so could endanger future generations.
Efforts are underway to meet the needs of military personnel, with housing schemes planned over the next five years. Minister of Defense Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon reiterated the commitment to safeguarding the nation's freedom and sovereignty. He highlighted initiatives aligned with national boundaries outlined by the Commander-in-Chief, including the provision of modern technological resources such as air corps and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to strengthen the Maldivian National Defense Force (MNDF).
Minister Ghassan also acknowledged the efforts of naval military personnel in ensuring citizen safety and addressing fire incidents. He expressed gratitude to military personnel for their dedication and urged them to continue prioritising the nation above all else.
The ceremony was attended by MNDF Lieutenant General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef and senior personnel from the Maldivian Army.
