Halting projects goes against gov't policy: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised that halting projects goes against the fundamental principles and policies of the government. He made the statement during the "Raees ge Javaab" series, which facilitates direct public interaction with the President on diverse issues.

Responding to concerns raised by Aminath Nazeera from Male' City about opposition claims regarding halted projects, President Dr. Muizzu denounced it as one of the opposition's major falsehoods against his administration. He said that he encountered projects at a standstill from the previous government upon assuming office, a reality witnessed during his presidential campaign visits to various islands.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the complexity, with projects changing hands multiple times, resulting in delayed payments and hindrances to progress. He underscored the government's efforts in resuming stalled projects upon taking office, a move that has since seen many projects back on track.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu reiterated his commitment to driving development and delivering outcomes for the public. He emphasised that the government's focus remains steadfast on advancing development initiatives, despite challenges such as project interruptions. Recently, he disclosed statistics on 527 projects, including those that faced interruptions during the government transition, underscoring transparency and accountability in governance.
