Gov’t begins distributing dates donated by Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has begun distributing the 55 tonnes of dates donated by Saudi Arabia.

Notably, the Islamic ministry will distribute dates to households in Male’ City, Villimale’, and Hulhumale’ while individuals are advised to bring their identification (ID) card when they arrive to receive the dates.

The Islamic ministry stated that the dates will be distributed on April 8 and 9 from 1300hrs to 1500hrs. Additionally, while dates are to be distributed from April 14 to 18 from 1300hrs to 1500hrs, it is to be provided from 0930hrs to 1200hrs during April 23 to 25.

The government of Saudi Arabia donated 55 tonnes of dates to the Maldives on March 21. At a ceremony, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives Matrek Abdullah Al-Ajalin Aldosari handed over the donation to Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. Out of this donation, 50 tonnes are allocated for the people of the Maldives, while the remaining 5 tonnes were specially designated by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs for the Maldives Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

Remarkably, the government of Saudi Arabia donates dates to the Maldives each year for the month of Ramadan.

While the Ministry of Islamic affairs has initiated the provision of dates donated by Saudi Arabia, Zakat-al-Firt provision has been commenced by them as well. Zakat-al-Fitr is being dispersed at Aminiyya School.
