Sheikh Izzaddin Adnan has been appointed as the Director General of Zakat of Maldives Zakat House. A special ceremony was held by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in which the Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed appointed him as the director.
With a vast experience of serving the Islamic Ministry since 2008, Sheikh Izzaddin continues to seek education from the field of Islamic Shariah. He obtained higher education from the International Islamic University of Islamabad, Pakistan, and currently strives to complete his studies at a doctorate level.
The Maldives Zakat House established on December 18, 2023, was officially inaugurated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on January 2. The initiative aims to increase awareness regarding zakat, while targetting to provide a mechanism for accepting and disbursing Zakat, announce the Nisab for Zakat Al-Mal, or Zakat on Wealth, twice a year, and regularly update the national registry of individuals below the poverty line.
