President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring maximum progress for Laamu Atoll, addressing attendees at a ceremony held in Fonadhoo.
Highlighting Fonadhoo's incorporation as an urban center in the 20-year master plan, President Muizzu outlined the establishment of seven urban centers as a key component of the initiative.
President Muizzu emphasised housing as a fundamental right of every citizen, announcing the reclaiming of land in Fonadhoo for a housing project. This initiative, included in the state budget, will be facilitated through financial modules with investor assistance. Population consolidation and sustainable development are integral aspects of this policy.
President Muizzu resolved to establish Kadhdhoo Airport to revitalise economic efficiency in Fonadhoo, with the relevant agreement already signed. Plans are underway to develop tourism facilities near inhabited islands, with a focus on ecotourism. Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal is spearheading efforts to expand tourism.
President Muizzu urged public cooperation, emphasising that every commitment made will be fulfilled. He stressed the importance of a collaborative and cooperative parliament to support the administration's efforts. The president assured that his commitments are sincere and in the interest of the public.
