Over 338 vehicles towed for obstructing daily commute routes

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has stated that over 338 vehicles in Male' City as part of efforts to clear vehicles obstructing daily commute routes. This initiative, aims to alleviate traffic congestion experienced in Male' and Hulhumale' due to illegal parking. The initiative is implemented by the ministry in collaboration with Maldives Police Service (MPS).

The ministry disclosed that 202 vehicles have been released, while 106 vehicles remain in the tow yard. Monitoring of illegal parking has been intensified, particularly in areas such as the green zone, public transport roads, road corners, street corners, and school zones.

Earlier, MPS temporarily suspended parking stickers in Male' City in January due to persistent complaints about traffic congestion caused by vehicles parked on both sides of roads. However, numerous complaints have been lodged since then, citing traffic congestion and difficulties in road usage due to vehicles parked on both sides of the roads.
