Election Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has revealed that a total of 41 complaints were submitted regarding the upcoming parliamentary election, scheduled to take place on April 21.
During the fifth meeting held by the National Advisory Committee, Member of ECM Hassan Zakariyyaa disclosed that the commission responded to 39 out of 41 complaints submitted. Revealing that the pending two cases were currently under examination, he affirmed that all the cases submitted were reviewed by the ECM itself with no external influence or involvement.
The cases submitted are as follows; 5 issues regarding campaigns, 1 case of an employee, 26 related to voter's rights, 4 issues regarding registration and 5 complaints related to candidacy.
ECM unveiled that candidates have signed the list of eligible voters, highlighting the ongoing efforts to transport the ballot boxes to the relevant polling stations. It further affirmed that no amendments can be made to any list of voters unless a judicial process is involved.
The finalised list of eligible voters was publicised on March 25, with 284,663 individuals eligible to vote in the forthcoming parliamentary election.
