The previous administration introduced the Binveriyaa Scheme, in which over 9,000 individuals attained land plots. Remarkably, the previous administration initially designated 5,432 plots of land in Girvaarufalhu. However, due to constraints, 1,347 plots have been determined for transfer to Gulhifalhu. Following this opportunity, over 1,900 individuals have submitted applications to transfer their land plots.
The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has published the list of applicants who applied for the transfer of land plots, in the Government's Gazette. While April 17 was set to be the last day to submit the applications, a total of 1,914 individuals applied for the transfe.
Numbers and sizes of plots to be transferred to Gulhifalhu:
193 plots within 1,250 acres of land
663 plots within 1,650 acres of land
487 plots within 2,050 acres of land
4 plots within 2,450 acres of land
As the number of landowners of 2,050 and 2,450 acres of land did not exceed the government's expectations, decisions have been such that all the land plots within the category will be transferred to Gulhifalhu. Furthermore, the ministry disclosed that since an additional 814 applicants submitted forms for the transfer of land plots with an area of 1,250 and 1,650 acres, land plots will be determined to for transfer following a draw. On this stance, the ministry revealed that the scheduled date for the draw will be announced in the near future.

928 forms for plots of 1,250 acres of land
769 forms for plots of 1,650 acres of land
213 forms for plots of 2,050 acres of land
4 forms for plots of 2,450 acres of land
With the list being publicised, the ministry has opened opportunities to voice any disapproval regarding the list. The deadline to submit such cases is scheduled for May 1, 2300hrs.
A total of 160ha of land has been reclaimed in Gulhifalhu. Meanwhile, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been entrusted to dredge the remaining 85ha in a timely manner.
