The national airline, Maldivian, has resumed the flights from the Maldives to Sri Lanka with the flights operating from Velana International Airport to Bandaranaike International Airport.
The flights were officially inaugurated by the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen and the Managing Director of Island Aviation Ibrahim Iyaas following a ceremony held at the Velana International Airport.
Speaking to media, the Deputy Managing Director of Island Aviation Ali Saleem expressed optimism that these flights will benefit the people of both countries and provide convenience for those travelling between Sri Lanka and the Maldives for various purposes. He further informed that a 15% discount will be granted to Maldivians travelling to Sri Lanka for medical treatment at the Nawaloka Hospital.
Moreover, Maldivian will operate two flights per week between the Maldives and Sri Lanka scheduled for Thursdays and
Saturdays. Maldivian highlighted the decision to resume flights aims to bring convenience, offering easy connections to all domestic destinations.
In addition to the newly resumed flights to Sri Lanka, efforts are underway to expand its services to a diverse range of destinations with the initiation of wide-body operations.
