First Lady Sajida Mohamed has commended the unwavering commitment and diligent efforts of female police officers in ensuring the highest level of security in the Maldives. She made the remarks during the inaugural ceremony of the second term of the "Maldives Women in Policing Committee".
Speaking at the ceremony, First Lady Sajida stressed the pivotal role of Maldives Police Service (MPS), specifically emphasising the crucial role played by female officers. She further underscored the importance of female officers active involvement in various sectors of the police force, highlighting the positive outcomes associated with women's empowerment and the expansion of their roles.
Moreover, the First Lady expressed pride in the significant contributions made by female police officers in guaranteeing national security, emphasising the significance of proactive involvement and voicing opinions in diverse fields across the police force. She stressed that by empowering female officers further, they could effectively address a variety of societal issues affecting women's experiences.
During the event, First Lady Sajida unveiled the inaugural edition of the monthly newsletter, titled, "Special Inaugural Issue", which was created and published by the Maldives Women in Policing Committee.
A moment of silence was observed in honour of the late Chief Inspector of Police Mohamed Ziyad, who passed away on April 28. He was known for his valuable and timely contributions to the police service.
