Land Act will solve land issue cases in courts: Siraj

Parliamentarian Moosa Siraj has proposed a bill in parliament aimed at addressing land-related issues within the judicial system. These remarks were made during the debate on the Land Act Bill.

The proposed bill establishes regulations for determining land types and allocating it for diverse purposes, including residential purposes.

Siraj revealed that the bill outlines thorough details of land valuation, appointment of Chief Value and as well as key administrative highlights, citing the persistent concerns regarding land valuation, Moreover, the bill addresses various aspects of land management, such as regulations governing land leases and sales, as well as prohibitions on selling land plots to foreign entities.

Moreover, Siraj emphasised that the current enforcement of an outdated law is contributing to issues within the judicial system. He further noted that many land-related issues lack detailed descriptions in current laws when submitted to the court. Thus, believes that the proposed Land Act Bill aims to address the issue, ensuring a sustainable solution.

Furthermore, Siraj underscored that the government has passed the Land Act Bill, Social Housing Bill and Real Estate Bills in parliament. He affirmed that once these bills are regulated, they will offer a lasting solution to the housing issue.
