Mayor of Male' City Adam Azim has urged residents to ensure the cleanliness of the city. He made the remarks on a post circulated on social media.
Collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development, the Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO), Maldives Police Services (MPS), and Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) have commenced to clean the industrial village of Male' City.
Monitoring the extensive efforts, Mayor Azim urged the residents to maintain the cleanliness of the city while discouraging littering. While efforts are underway to clean the industrial village of the city, the mayor revealed that the area will be closed off with a gate in the near future. He also stressed the significance of proper garbage disposal in the WAMCO yard, in compliance with the existing laws and policies.
Male' City Council (MCC) has implemented several initiatives to ensure and maintain the cleanliness of the city. As such, fines have been imposed following the identification of individuals involved in littering.
