Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu has reaffirmed the government's commitment to continue all sports-related projects initiated by the previous administration. He made these statements in response to queries raised by parliamentarians during a parliamentary meeting.
During the session, the Minister assured that ongoing sports initiatives across different islands would be swiftly pursued and fully implemented. He further addressed concerns raised by parliamentarians regarding any potential halting of sports projects previously initiated by the former government, stating that none of these projects would be discontinued.
Emphasising the importance of promptly advancing these projects, Minister Rafiu highlighted their alignment with the interests of the people and the broader goals of national development.
In addition to ensuring the continuity of ongoing projects, Minister Rafiu shed light on the government's ongoing efforts to enhance the sports industry through a comprehensive "Long Term Sports Development Plan." He revealed that a framework for this plan has been formulated to guide future endeavors effectively.
Furthermore, the Minister underscored the crucial role played by sports associations in the sustainable development of sports in the Maldives. He mentioned the involvement of foreign experts and the preparation of a summary paper in consultation with these associations, reflecting a collaborative approach to sports development.
