The Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Aslam has urged committee members to compile their reports by next Friday, ensuring they are sent to the members in time for the last meeting of the current session, scheduled for next Monday.
Despite the current parliamentary session is set to finish on May 15, the last meeting will take place on May 13. Aslam clarified that there are no obstacles to holding sessions on Thursday and Sunday to address any unfinished business.
Moreover, Aslam further emphasized that committee reports not submitted to members by next Friday cannot be scheduled for the final meeting of the current parliament. According to regulations, committee reports must be sent to members three days before being proposed in parliament. He urged parliamentarians to complete committee work by Thursday to facilitate timely distribution of the reports.
Furthermore, Aslam noted that there are 21 questions presented in parliament for ministers, with one requiring a written answer. However, due to the absence of ministers and members, the remaining questions cannot be added to the agenda. Aslam requested parliamentarians who submitted questions to attend meetings accordingly.
Additionally, Aslam called on committees to address the 322 letters of complaint submitted to parliament, for which responses have not been received. He urged committee chairpersons to complete this work seeking a response before the end of the session.
The current parliamentary term expires on May 15, with the swearing-in of newly elected members scheduled for May 28.
