Arrangements made to complete medical education in Dharumavanatha School

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has responded to concerns raised by students of Maldives National University's (MNU) School of Medicine by announcing that their studies will continue uninterrupted at Dharumavantha Hospital.

The decision follows a letter sent by the students' union to the President on April 23, expressing concerns about the potential relocation of the educational space at Dharumavantha Hospital. In response, the Strategic Communications Minister at the President’s Office convened a meeting on April 26 with relevant government officials and student representatives.

Moreover, President Muizzu assured the students that their concerns would be addressed effectively, emphasising the commitment to ensure that any arrangements made would not disrupt their studies. This commitment aligns with the President's overarching goal of improving education and healthcare services within the state budget’s financial capacity.

Additionally, efforts are currently underway to establish a modernized educational facility with updated resources for medicine students. Concurrently, plans are in place to increase the bed capacity of both Indira Gandi Memorial Hospital and Dharumavantha Hospital, accompanied by the swift introduction of additional facilities to accommodate the increased capacity.

The announcement from President Muizzu to allow School of Medicine students to continue their studies at Dharumavantha Hospital reaffirms his dedication to providing opportunities for students, especially those pursuing higher education. The students representatives expressed confidence in the President's commitment to addressing student concerns and appreciated the decision, which further strengthens their confidence and encourages them in their academic pursuits.
