President emphasises role of strong familial relations for national survival

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the critical role of strengthening and empowering families for the nation's survival. He made the statement in a social media post marking International Day of Families.

In his post, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted that patriotism, national service, and the commitment to safeguarding the country stem from strong family foundations. He underscored the necessity of strengthening families to ensure the country's longevity.

The current administration has prioritised the empowerment of families, with a particular focus on supporting the elderly within family care settings. Minister of Social and Family Development Dr. Aishath Shiham noted that many families are compelled to place elderly members under state care due to challenging living conditions.

To address these issues, the government is actively assessing the state of families through a new initiative launched by the Ministry of Social and Family Development. The programme aims to evaluate family situations and collaboratively develop solutions to their challenges.
