The Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works has held a consultation meeting with stakeholders from the communications sector.
Among the 30 attendees were officials from the Ministry of Education, the cities ministry, and relevant agencies. The discussion included various topics, such as crafting communication technology policies for the Maldives and soliciting input on infrastructure development strategies.
Participants also explored avenues to enhance the role of communication in national progress, promote awareness of the field, integrate it into the education system, propose relevant projects, and offer technical guidance to pertinent authorities.
Minister Adam Shareef Umar, representing the Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works, emphasised the ministry's commitment to engaging stakeholders in formulating communication policies. He outlined plans for further extensive discussions and the creation of comprehensive documents with public involvement.
This consultation meeting signifies the Maldives' inaugural establishment of the cities ministry. Its purpose was to gather insights on the ministry's upcoming projects.
