Applications open for presidential and high achievers scholarship

Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has opened applications for students who completed their higher secondary education in 2023 eligible for the president’s scholarship and high achievers' scholarship. The deadline to submit applications has been set to July 31.

The ministry has outlined the criteria for students eligible for the presidential scholarship. Such students must have earned a grade of A* in five subjects, including Dhivehi and Islam, while scoring at least pass in the Ordinary Level examination or equivalent examination in English. Students who are eligible and are interested can apply for the scholarship via the ministry's website.

Furthermore, the criteria for high achievers scholarships are publicised as well. Students applying for this scholarship must have earned a grade of A in five subjects, including Dhivehi and Islam, while scoring at least pass in the Ordinary Level examination or equivalent examination in English. Students who are eligible and are interested can apply for the scholarship via the ministry's website. The ministry also stated that more information regarding the scholarship can be obtained through the website.

Additionally, the ministry disclosed that students who receive high achievers scholarships will be given the opportunity to study within the fields listed in the National Training Needs List. The list comprises key sectors of the Maldives which require advancement in the nation. Meanwhile, students who receive the presidential scholarship will be given the opportunity to study in any field of their choice. This opportunity is available to complete a bachelor's degree or a degree below a bachelor's degree. The guidelines for the scholarship will be available on the Ministry of Education's website and with the announcement in the Government Gazette.
