Formulation of organ transplant law underway

The Ministry of Health has announced ongoing efforts to formulate a law governing organ transplants in the Maldives.

Speaking at a press conference, Minister of Health Dr. Abdulla Khaleel affirmed that organ transplant operations conducted overseas would also adhere to laws enforced under a proper regulatory framework, highlighting active collaboration with relevant authorities to draft the legislation.

Moreover, Minister Khaleel conveyed that the bill would be presented to the incoming parliament, expressing optimism that the legislation would be enacted with the support of the new parliament.

The present administration is remarkably committed to creating a comprehensive organ transplant law and establishing strong and sustainable regulations for such procedures. Additionally, private healthcare providers have also shown interest in participating in the development and implementation of these regulations.
