Hulhule' records highest rainfall in 24hrs: Met Office

The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has reported that Hulhule’ recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24hrs, with 63.7mm of rain.

The ongoing rainy monsoon season is expected to continue causing adverse weather conditions across the country.

The latest statistics from the Met Office indicate that heavy rainfall has affected most parts of the Maldives. Following Hulhule’, Maamigili in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll experienced the second highest rainfall with 50.8mm, and Maavah in Laamu Atoll recorded the third highest with 40.6mm of rain.

Additionally, the Met Office noted an increase in rainfall in the central and southern regions of the Maldives compared to the northern regions.

The Met Office has been issuing weather alerts, following the heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours and forecasts indicating continued heavy rain. Seafarers are also advised to exercise caution and pay close attention to the weather conditions due to the expected rough seas.
