The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has issued a forecast for heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.
The Met Office reports that a wide area will experience rain, with thundershowers in certain locations. The northern and central regions of the country are expected to face particularly severe weather. Winds will also be strong, ranging from 17 to 27 mph in the west and southwest, and gusts between 45 and 50 mph are expected.
Additionally, rough seas and flooding are expected during this rainy period. The Met Office advises seafarers to take necessary safety precautions.
