MMPRC invites journalists from Japan to promote Maldives

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has extended invitations to a team of journalists from Japan, with the primary objective of enhancing promotion efforts for the Maldives. The familiarisation tour for the team of journalists is scheduled to take place from May 17 to 24.

MMPRC disclosed that journalists from Vogue Japan Online, CREA Web, Numero Tokyo.jp and Mainavi Women will participate in the tour. The corporation reiterated its overarching goal of showcasing the Maldives as a prominent tourist destination in various platforms, including social media, while simultaneously introducing and promoting the Maldives in the Japanese market.
It further affirmed that opportunities will be available to attain pertinent information through the journalists team, regarding the Maldivian tourism and the variety of services offered from the industry.

The purpose of the familiarisation tour is to promote the Maldives in the Japanese market with the goal of attracting more Japanese tourists. Hence, MMPRC invited famous and youthful journalists who are capable of showcasing the excellence of tourism in the nation. The corporation also revealed that the tour aims to advertise the various travel experiences that tourists can enjoy, in addition to the promotion of the hotel and guest house industry.

MPPRC envisions to ensure that the Maldives maintains its global reputation as one of the world's leading tourism destinations. With the committed efforts to achieve this goal, the Maldives successfully won two prestigious awards in the Marine Diving Awards held in Japan. The Maldives emerged victorious in two categories, achieving thihrd place in the "Best Area Overseas Division" and second place in the " Best Overseas Destination I Want to Visit for the First Time" category. The awards were secured as voted by the divers nationwide.

As the of the end of April, the Maldives welcomed a total of 9,333 Japanese tourists. Japanese tourists constitute the 13th largest portion of total tourist arrivals, accounting for 1.5% of the overall figure.
