President departs for Antigua and Barbuda to attend SIDS conference

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has departed on an official journey to St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda to participate in the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

At the summit, President Dr. Muizzu will present the National Statement during the Plenary session on May 27, 2024. Furthermore, he is slated to engage in meetings with various foreign dignitaries and deliver remarks at several side events of the Summit. President Dr. Muizzu holds the position of Vice President of the Conference and serves as Co-chair of one of the five interactive dialogues, organized by the UN for the conference.

Held once a decade, the Conference on SIDS is a pivotal gathering. A centrepiece of the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) is the adoption of the new Programme of Action, the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS. The overarching theme of this conference is Charting the Course Towards Resilient Prosperity.
