Maldives reiterates commitment to strengthen relations with UN

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated the commitment of Maldives to strengthening its close relations with the United Nations (UN). The president made the commitment at the first official meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in Antigua and Barbuda. The meeting took place during the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4).

During the meeting, President Muizzu emphasised the importance of continued collaboration and support from the UN in addressing the unique challenges faced by Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

The leaders discussed various development challenges confronting the Maldives, including climate change, economic resilience, and sustainable development. The president highlighted ongoing efforts and initiatives aimed at overcoming these challenges and achieving the country's development goals.
