President condemns terror attacks on Rafah camps

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has strongly condemned the deadly attack by Israeli forces on the refugee camp in Rafah, where displaced Palestinians were taking shelter. He made these remarks in a social media post.

In the post, President Muizzu emphasised that Israel must abide by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling, asserting that no country is exempt from international law. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Palestine to end the violence and ensure unhindered humanitarian access, representing the sentiments of the Maldivian people and government.

During his address at the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS), President Muizzu urged world leaders to unite to end the genocide in Gaza, stressing the importance of collaboration and unity. He called on SIDS leaders to jointly condemn and call out the inhumane genocide being carried out in Palestine, aimed at destroying an entire race.

The attacks in Rafah have resulted in over 40 deaths, with the Israeli forces actively targeting Muslims in Gaza. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported several injuries as well. Despite this, Israel has portrayed the area as a safe zone for Palestinians to the international community.
