Maldives and Commonwealth discuss enhancing relations

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Patricia Scotland KC, on the sidelines of the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda.

During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu expressed his gratitude for the Commonwealth's ongoing development assistance to the Maldives. He highlighted the support provided in various fields including sports, youth empowerment, education, the environment, and technology.

The discussion focused on issues of importance to Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and other small states within the Commonwealth. The Secretary-General praised the Maldives for its strong and valuable leadership on critical issues affecting SIDS.

President Dr. Muizzu and the Secretary-General explored ways for the Commonwealth to further enhance its support for SIDS.

The meeting concluded with President Dr. Muizzu reaffirming his government's unwavering commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Commonwealth.
