UK praises Maldives' role in SIDS

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has held discussions with the Minister of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs and the Department of Environment of the United Kingdom, Lord Richard Benyon on the sidelines of the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda.

During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu and Minister of State Lord Benyon discussed a range of issues aimed at enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation, particularly on matters concerning Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

President Dr. Muizzu emphasised his administration's commitment to combating the climate crisis and outlined various steps taken to address climate mitigation concerns.

Minister of State Lord Benyon applauded the Maldives for its active leadership in advocating for SIDS and commended President Dr. Muizzu's strong vision for the development and prosperity of the Maldives.
