Minister reveals 38.8% of Thilamale' bridge completed

Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdullah Muththalib has provided an update on the Thilamale' Bridge project, revealing that 38.8% of the project has been completed. Speaking at a press conference, Minister Muththalib offered insights into the ministry's efforts over the past six months.

Addressing the project's timeline, Minister Muththalib acknowledged initial delays and announced a revised completion date of September 30, 2026, with the Male' to Gulhifalhu connection expected to be finished by March 31, 2026. He shared the latest progress updates, including 65% completion of piling work, 46% of piling caps, 48% of pillar columns, and 31% of pre-cast segmentation.

Despite challenges such as the impending rainy season, the minister assured that all work would adhere to the established timeline. The present administration aims to finalise the Thilamale' Bridge project by the end of 2025 or early 2026, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to completing the project three months ahead of the original schedule.

Valued at over USD 454 million, the Thilamale' Bridge project underscores the strong bilateral ties between the Maldives and India, spanning 6.7 kilometers and connecting four key areas.
