Commissioner of Police urges laws to be enforced impartially

Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau has reaffirmed the necessity for police to enforce laws impartially and consistently.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the 36th Police Initial Training Course, Commissioner Shujau highlighted the critical role of police in addressing societal issues and stressed that the public expects police actions to match their words of commitment. He pointed out that the mere presence of uniformed officers could deter many issues, particularly the rising problem of drug consumption, urging officers to take legal action against such issues.

Moreover, Shujau emphasised the paramount importance of police officers dedicating their daily eight-hour duty to public service and comprehensively enforcing existing laws. He noted that officers often complete their shifts by remaining at their designated stations unless a case is reported, and called for a more proactive approach.

Addressing the public's lack of trust in the police, he urged officers to avoid all illegal activities, both during service and in their daily lives, as such behavior undermines the nation's stability and sovereignty.

Furthermore, Commissioner Shujau highlighted the valuable academic opportunities available within the police services, advicing officers to take full advantage of these opportunities, enhancing their professionalism and effectiveness in serving the community.
