Gov't states that BCC plays a pivotal role in economic development

Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed has stated that Business Centre Corporation (BCC) will play a pivotal role for the development of the nation's economy. The statement was made by the minister during the staff gala night held to celebrate the seventh anniversary of BCC.

Speaking at the event, Minister Saeed revealed the primary objective of promoting national products via BCC's Authentic Maldives. Stressing the significance of strengthening the corporation, the minister suggested the development of various factories to achieve this goal. On this stance, he highlighted the ongoing initiatives encompassing feasibility assessments and pertinent studies aimed at establishing a salt production facility.

Furthermore, Minister Saeed unveiled the intentions of the administration to develop a garment factory, underscoring the necessity of securing market viability preceding the factory's establishment. The minister disclosed the plans of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, to privatise enterprises and establish public private partnership ties.

Emphasising that the trade agreement signed with China will be implemented this ear, Minister Saeed expressed confidence in accessing a larger market. The minister additionally revealed that efforts are underway to develop a quality standard infrastructure, aiming to enhance the quality of imported goods.

In addition to China, Minister Saeed highlighted the ongoing efforts to enter free trade agreements with India. The minister further revealed plans to develop a Creator Economy Hub as per the recommendation of President Dr. Muizzu. This initiative is designed to expedite significant endeavours undertaken within the early phases of the administration and introduce modernized payment systems nationwide.

The minister said the government's aim is to put BCC at the forefront of all these efforts, urging its employees to work with the same perspective.
