The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has officially renamed the "Hiyala Weekend Market" to the "Hiyala Market" and has begun offering kiosks for lease for an extended period of one year.
Originally initiated by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Hiyala Weekend Market was designed to provide significant opportunities for Maldivian female entrepreneurs. In response to the increased demand, BCC has decided to change its name to Hiyala Market and extend its commercial services to operate daily.
Moreover, BCC emphasised that opening the kiosks for a year-long lease will offer even greater opportunities for Maldivian female entrepreneurs to expand their businesses. The deadline for submitting applications for the lease of the kiosks is June 9, 2024, at 1600 hrs.
This initiative aligns with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's pledge to create a dedicated area for female entrepreneurs to showcase their products. The Hiyala Market project is part of the broader initiatives under President Muizzu’s administration, specifically aligning with the Week 14 road map of his presidential pledges.
