Gov't to introduces 37 bills to Parliament this term

Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has announced the government plans to introduce 37 bills during the second session of the Parliament of the Maldives. The list of these bills has been forwarded to the Parliament for consideration.

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) traditionally submits a list of bills to be passed by the government in each parliamentary session. For the second session, a total of 37 bills have been sent for review. Notably, two bills, namely the Health Service Act Amendment Bill and the Sovereign Development Fund Bill, have already been presented and discussed during the ongoing session.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the importance of introducing over 200 bills in Parliament, including amendments to existing laws and the creation of new legislation. These initiatives aim to foster the development of the Maldives and benefit its citizens. In line with this vision, the government introduced 24 bills during the first session of the 20th Parliament earlier this year.
