Male' City Council designates Eid al-Adha evening vehicle-free

The Male' City Council has designated the evening of Eid al-Adha as a pedestrian-only time, prohibiting vehicles on the roads.

Motor vehicles and battery-powered vehicles will be banned from operating in the Greater Male' Region from 1600hrs to 1800hrs on June 16. The restriction will apply to all public roads in Male', Villimale', and Hulhumale'.

However, emergency vehicles will be allowed under a special permit issued by the city council. Permits and required stickers can be obtained on June 14 from 1400hrs to 1600hrs and 2100hrs to 2300hrs, and on June 15 from 1000hrs to 1400hrs and 2100hrs to 2300hrs. Legal action will be taken against any unauthorised vehicles on the roads during the curfew.

The annual curfew is part of the Eid celebrations, providing families with the opportunity to enjoy various activities on the streets.
