President sends Hajj day greetings

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his greetings to the people of the Maldives and the entire Islamic Ummah on the day of Hajj.

In a post on social media, President Dr. Muizzu described Hajj as one of the most blessed days of the year. He wished the people of the Maldives and the entire Islamic Ummah the blessings of this auspicious day.

This year, 1,150 people from the Maldives have traveled to Mecca for Hajj. Among them are 50 pilgrims sent under the presidential promise to send 1,000 people from the poor register to Hajj within five years, with their expenses covered by the government.

The government has appointed Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu to lead this year's Hajj pilgrims. Both Dr. Shafeeu and Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed are participating in this year's Hajj mission.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia has provided an opportunity for Maldivian students studying in the country to assist Maldivian Hajj pilgrims, following a request by the Minister of Islamic Affairs.
