BCC introduces an award to SMEs

Business Centre Corporation has announced the decision to introduce awards for Micro-Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs). The decision was revealed in a statement delivered by the Managing Director of the corporation Ibrahim Ziyau, commemorating the International MSMEs Day.

The statement indicated that the MSME Award is designed to recognise the work and achievements of small firms at the national and international levels. This marks the first time such an award is being introduced to the nation. BCC has emphasised the significance of the award to promote the sector.

Furthermore, Managing Director Ziyau stated that small firms and self-employed individuals play a pivotal role in the economy, underscoring the crucial importance of creating a green environment for such individuals. He additionally disclosed that efforts are underway to seek global markets to promote individuals producing local products. As such, he stated that arrangements are being made to showcase Maldivian products at various international events. Ziyau further reiterated that BCC remains committed to provide equal opportunities to all firms.

The International MSMEs Day is annually observed on June 27.
