The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that the start of the Islamic New Year, 1446, will remain unchanged. Despite recent calendar modifications during the month of Hajj, the ministry confirmed that the new year will begin as scheduled.
The modifications were made to ensure that the Day of Arafat is commemorated on the same date in both the Maldives and Saudi Arabia. Consequently, the ministry declared that July 6 marks the end of the current Islamic Year, while the Maldives will welcome the Islamic New Year on July 7.
The ministry also stated that no further changes to the Islamic calendar are necessary at this time.
