Maldives and Jordan discuss strengthening cooperation

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Maldives Dr. Maen Khreasat has presented his Letters of Credence to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in a formal ceremony held at the President's Office. Ambassador Khreasat was escorted to the President’s Office from Republic Square in a traditional “Haiykolhu” cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

During the ceremony, President Muizzu accepted the Letters of Credence from Ambassador Khreasat and warmly welcomed him to the Maldives. The President expressed his enthusiasm for working together to strengthen the diplomatic relationship between Jordan and the Maldives.

Following the presentation of credentials, President Muizzu and Ambassador Khreasat engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation between their countries. The discussions included a focus on future collaboration in various sectors and the Jordanian Ambassador expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to Jordanians in the Maldives during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ambassador Khreasat is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident Ambassador and is based in Islamabad. Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Jordan were officially established on March 25, 1981. The Ambassador's appointment underscores the commitment of both nations to continue and expand their cooperative efforts.
