Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has met with the leaders of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). The meeting took place at the Parliament of the Maldives on July 14.
The administration of the parliament disclosed that the meeting saw discussions held on the works of the parliament. As such, chairperson of MDP Fayyaz Ismail urged the speaker to protect the rights of the minority party in the Parliament and to ensure them the opportunity to work as well. He also urged the speaker not to allow a repetition of the events that took place during the 18th Parliament.
Deputy Speaker Ahmed Nazim and Majority Leader Ibrahim Falah accompanied Speaker Abdul Raheem during the meeting. MDP's Chairperson was accompanied by the party's Vice Chairperson Ibrahim Waheed and other officials.
