Maldives, Ireland discuss measures to combat climate change

Ambassador of Ireland to the Maldives Kevin Kelly presented his Letters of Credence to the President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office. The Ambassador was escorted to the President’s Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession “Haiykolhu” with MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band.

Following the presentation, the President and Ambassador discussed areas for further collaboration between the two countries, including tourism, green energy, and working together to address shared concerns faced by both countries as a result of climate change.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Ireland were established on 07 December 1999. The ambassador is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident Ambassador and resides in New Delhi, India.
