Maldives, Peru discuss strengthening ties in trade and investment

Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to the Republic of Maldives Javier Manuel Paulinich Verlarde, presented his Letters of Credence to the President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office. The Ambassador was escorted to the President's Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession "Haiykolhu" with MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band.

Following the presentation, the President and Ambassador discussed areas for further cooperation between the two countries, including facilitation of exports, trade, and investments. The President expressed interest in working with Peru as countries from the Global South.

Diplomatic ties between the Maldives and Peru were established on February 06, 1989. The ambassador is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident Ambassador and resides in New Delhi, India.
