Gov't urges fostering a generation educated in Quranic morality

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has urged to foster a generation educated in the morality outlined in the Holy Quran, emphasising that it is as important as reciting the Quran beautifully. He made the statement while speaking at the award ceremony of the 36th National Quran Recitation Competition.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Shaheem highlighted that the National Quran Recitation Competition has been a significant event for 36 years, showcasing many talented students and teachers. He expressed gratitude to the competition's founder, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, and voiced confidence that the competition will continue to thrive under the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Additionally, Minister Shaheem pointed out that the Quran contains far more narratives on morality than on punishment. Therefore, he urged people to work towards raising a generation well-versed in the moral teachings of the Quran. He also stressed that true happiness would be achieved if a society embraced the strong social morality described in the Quran.

Furthermore, Minister Shaheem noted the increasing number of youth in the Maldives memorising the Quran and said that it has been decided to separate the Hafiz graduation ceremony from the national Quran recitation competition.

Moreover, Minister Shaheem expressed the Islamic Ministry's gratitude towards President Dr. Muizzu’s dedication to spreading Quranic knowledge in the country. He also said that the government is making efforts to provide opportunities for the younger generation to learn and teach the Quran for future generations.
